This page is a Bragging board for club anglers who catch a snapper reaching the old magic benchmark of a 20lbs.
Releasing large fish is important and encouraged by MBFC and today’s technology makes it easy to photograph a fish on a measure mat and have that great catch recognised. Most importantly it allows these big fish to be released to breed which is needed for our Hauraki Gulf fishery.
We have an opportunity to make a positive change for future generations – letting some of those big catches go is worthwhile for the benefit of the future keen anglers of New Zealand.
So, when you tick off that bucket-list goal of a 20lb snapper(80cm) or a 20kg plus kingfish (116cm), if it’s in good condition, maybe it can go back to keep those large-growth genes in the pool!
Congrats to the Club members below who have cought these fish since the clubs inception.
