Club Trophy Rules

To be eligible for an End of Year Trophy the fish MUST be weighed in and photos posted on either the MBFC Facebook page, What’sApp or the MBFC Instagram account!

Annual trophies are only for fish caught within MBFC Boundaries:

• Snapper of the Year
• Kingfish of the Year
• Women’s Snapper of the Year
• Women’s Kingfish of the Year
• Junior Snapper of the Year (Under 16 years at April 1st)
• Junior Kingfish of the Year (Under 16 years at April 1st)
• Kids Snapper of the Year (Under 10 years at April 1st)
• Land based Snapper of the year (Kontiki’s are permitted)
• Club person of the year
• “Committee Cup” catch of the year (nominations of a great (or not so great) catch to be submitted to the committee.)

In addition to the trophies above there will be the club pinnacle …

THE HOGAN AND QUINCY SHIELD awarded to the most outstanding fish of the year caught in any New Zealand Coastal Waters as decided by Hoags & Quincy.

For a fish to be eligible for a MBFC trophy the following criteria MUST be met:

1. Caught by a current fully paid member.
2. Caught from Midnight April 1st 2021 – Midnight March 31st 2022
3. Caught within MBFC fishing boundaries.
a. Proof of capture location will need to be accepted by a committee member.
An acceptable proof will be a photo of fish just captured followed immediately
by a photo of GPS screen…Photo can be zoomed out and/or the last 3 digits
of GPS coordinates position hidden to preserve spot privacy.
b. Other proof may be accepted if approved by committee members.
4. Fish to be measured on a measure mat as per club guidelines.
5. Photo of the fish must be posted to the MBFC Facebook page, What’sapp or Instagram account.
6. New Zealand fishing rules and regulations apply.
7. Fish caught on a commercial charter, spear or longline from a boat are not eligible.
8. Fish that have been entered into any other fishing competition are not eligible.

Please note in all MBFC fishing competitions it is the skipper’s responsibility to ensure they only
take the vessel out in conditions that are appropriate to both the type of vessel and their own skill level.
